Global eCommerce sales rise 20%
Interesting article from myHermes on the great performance of eCommerce in 2011. E-tail analysts IMRG report that Global e-commerce sales have risen sharply in 2011, with the UK leading the way as one of the main drivers.
Consumer demand for buying products online, many of which can be sent via cheap parcel delivery services, continued to rise in 2011 and is set to remain strong in the coming years, industry association IMRG has suggested.
The group released a report looking at the potential of the sector in every region in the world, providing insight into the markets to help businesses make the most of their potential for expansion.
Total e-commerce business-to-consumer sales reached a value of €690 billion (£555 billion) last year, marking an increase of almost 20 per cent compared to 2010.
IMRG predicted that growth will continue over the next few years, taking the industry past the €1 trillion mark in 2013.
The first edition of the association’s B2C Global e-Commerce Overview published last year predicted that this milestone would not be achieved until 2014.
