The Opportunity
Founded in 2004 with a vision to create high-performance appliances at accessible prices, Cleva has grown into a global operation with over 1,200 employees and more than 65 million appliances produced.
Previously selling primarily through resellers like Amazon, Cleva wanted to shift to a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model. However, their existing Shopify 1.0 site lacked the flexibility, performance, and brand presence needed to make this transition successful.
The Discovery
To bring Cleva’s vision to life, Propeller partnered with the brand to deliver a comprehensive Shopify 2.0 upgrade—empowering Cleva to connect directly with its audience and control its digital presence.
Key improvements included a full website redesign that ensured a cohesive look and feel across both Vacmaster and Lawnmaster, separating the D2C experience from third-party resellers, implementation of 337 custom templates, product pages and collections, leveraging Shopify 2.0’s advanced flexibility and the ability for Cleva to build their own landing pages and content, which wasn’t an option in their previous platform.


The Solution
We optimised the checkout checkout experience with a user-first approach, enhancing the mini cart to display all relevant order details and sending customers directly to payment options—reducing clicks and simplifying the purchase journey.
We also focused on improving product clarity and compatibility, helping customers confidently find the right accessories. This led to fewer incorrect purchases, reduced returns, and higher overall satisfaction.
An expanded support section now clearly communicates the benefits of buying direct—expert product knowledge, longer product lifespan, and dedicated assistance—while easing pressure on customer service. Additionally, product pages were optimised for SEO, driving increased organic traffic.
Cleva now operates on a modern, scalable Shopify 2.0 platform that supports its D2C strategy, boosts performance, and improves customer experience. With control over content, a faster checkout, and smarter support tools, Cleva is positioned for long-term growth and success in the competitive appliance market.
