A Brief History

Founded in 1807, Thwaites is one of the UK’s most established names in hospitality. With a rich heritage rooted in brewing and a growing portfolio of pubs, inns, and hotels across the country, Thwaites seamlessly blends tradition with modern comfort.

 

Their venues range from luxury destinations like Langdale Chase Hotel on Lake Windermere to accessible and welcoming stays such as Lodge at Bristol and Lodge at Solent.

The Challenge

As Thwaites evolved its hospitality offering, the brand faced a fragmented digital landscape, characterised by multi-site hospitality websites, challenges related to hotel website consolidation, and increasing pressure to drive direct bookings. These issues led to inconsistent experiences and limited performance insight.

 

They needed a cohesive digital ecosystem that could:

We redesigned 23 websites across Thwaites’ Hotels, Inns, and Lodges portfolio. All sites were developed using a headless WordPress template, allowing for faster load times, improved security, and easier scalability. Each website was tailored to its venue type, balancing the individuality of each property with a unified brand. 

SEO and Analytics

We conducted technical audits, keyword research, and content planning to ensure Thwaites’ venues ranked strongly in search results.

 

Propeller also oversaw a seamless migration from the old to new websites and continues to deliver ongoing SEO optimisation for priority venues.
