Everything You Need to Know About ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode

Advanced Voice Mode is the latest feature to come out of Chat GPT, and it takes innovation to the next level with voice automation. This update will enable users to have real-time human conversations with the chatbot without using text prompts or back-and-forth audio clips. Currently, it is only available to select Plus subscribers; and we have all of the information you need.

Open AI has stated that the latest feature will give more natural, real-time conversations where you can interrupt. It also senses and responds to your emotions. The AI software will be able to take breaths and simulate human laughter during conversation.

The AI giant has promised to roll out the update to more users over the coming weeks, and to all Plus subscribers by fall. You will know you have access to Advanced Voice Mode via email invitation and a notification when opening the ChatGPT app.

In addition to a Plus subscription, users will need an iPhone using iOS 16.4 or later, or an Android running app version 1.2024.206 or later. Simply having the right equipment isn’t all you need though, the alpha release phase seems to be more of a lottery whereby users are selected randomly.

OpenAI plans to use audio from conversations with Advanced Voice Mode to train its models. If you are uncomfortable with this, users have the option to turn off the apps’ data sharing option.

Daily usage limits: While what the actual limit is, is yet to be determined, the application will prompt users when they 3 minutes of conversation remaining. After this, users will be sent back to the standard voice interface.
